Every single Konges Sløjd collection is crafted in durable materials to achieve the finest results, made to be cherished the current season – and beyond. When it comes to sustainability ‘journey’ is the key word as leaving a lighter footprint behind is not an overnight thing.
We want to be honest and transparent about the steps we take, set ambitious goals and keep a thoughtful approach to this daunting task - giving some of all we’ve gotten back to the planet, to our children, and to the future we share.

Product safety is at the top of our agenda
In collaboration with Bureau Veritas, we test our products based on a risk assessment to ensure that they meet high standards in terms of durability, safety and chemical content.
Materials
We know that a large part of our total environmental footprint lies in the materials we choose. Therefore, we are constantly in search of more environmentally friendly alternatives. Organic and recycled materials are highly prioritized in our journey towards offering parents and children a wide range of low impact products.
Organic cotton
90 percent of the cotton we use is organic. Over half of the organic cotton we use is GOTS certified, which is a proportion we work dedicatedly to increase from collection to collection.
Recycled polyester
We use polyester in selected products that require the technical properties that polyester is known for: a durable material that dries quickly.
We strive to replace all the polyester we use with recycled polyester.
BIONIC-FINISH® ECO
BIONIC-FINISH® ECO is an alternative to regular impregnation that has a lower environmental impact.
The product is used for most of our outerwear and is fluorine-free and does not contain harmful chemicals.
Rainwear
Our rainwear is made of 100% polyester with PU (polyurethane)
coating and has a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm. The taped seams make the rainwear 100% waterproof.
Our rainwear comes in two variants; the spring/summer version
with cotton lining and the autumn/winter
version with polyester fleece lining and padding that gives a little extra
warmth.
Responsible down standard (RDS)
We only use down that is RDS certified. The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to any unnecessary harm and supports an industry that respects the humane treatment of ducks and geese.
Using only the highest quality down available, adds superior insulating properties and warmth-to-weight ratio. This makes our outerwear amazingly warm and comfortable across a range of temperatures.
THERMOLITE®EcoMade ALL SEASON technology
The THERMOLITE® EcoMade ALL SEASON technology is made from 100% recycled resources.
This technology helps you stay warm when it’s cool and cool when it’s warm by using an innovative combination of fibers. Moisture-wicking fibers help our children maintain a constant body temperature and keep the skin dry, while hollow fibers provide lightweight warmth.
When you see a THERMOLITE® brand hangtag in our clothes, this indicates the fabric has been rigorously tested and you can depend on the garment to deliver lasting warming performance.
our certifications
Our value chain is complex and each product goes through many different hands from start to finish. It is therefore important for us to follow recognized standards as a framework for good working conditions, organic materials and products that are free of harmful chemicals.
GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard
At Konges Sløjd, we are GOTS certified. The Global Organic Textile Standard is an international standard for the processing of organic textiles that has both an eye on environmental and social criteria throughout the value chain.
The certification ensures that the materials are organic and that they have not been treated with pesticides, dangerous chemicals and fluorinated chemistry. In addition, GOTS sets criteria for working conditions, such as minimum wages, working environment, working hours and age.
FSC – Forest Stewardship Council
In 2022 we got our FSC certification. The Forest Stewardship Council is an international standard that ensures that the wood we use in our products – mainly toys - comes from responsible forestry.
The FSC label is a guarantee that animals and plant life are protected and that the people who work in the forest are guaranteed training, safety equipment and decent wages.
Oeko-Tex®STANDARD 100
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a
globally standardized, independent testing and certification system for
textiles, products and accessories.
We are OEKO-TEX certified to ensure that the materials we use for our products are free of harmful chemicals.
Responsible production
A large part of our suppliers are audited according to standards that ensure proper working conditions – such as GOTS, Amfori BCSI, SA8000 and Sedex.
Looking at our five largest suppliers, who together make up more than half of our total production, 80 percent are audited.
Amfori BSCI
In April 2022 Konges Sløjd became a member of Amfori BSCI, an organization dedicated to social compliance, with the aim of improving working conditions in companies' international value chains.
The majority of our suppliers are located in Asia, which makes our
membership with Amfori incredibly important, because it helps
us to ensure good working conditions for all of them.
UN Global Compact
The UN Global Compact is the world's largest voluntary initiative for responsible companies. Through our membership of the Global Compact, we have committed to integrating ten universal principles within human rights, labor rights, the environment and anti-corruption into our strategies and daily operations.
