December has a rhythm of its own, and advent gifts for children are part of that. A small gift each day, right up to Christmas Eve, turns the countdown into something a child looks forward to on its own terms — not just as a wait for the big day.
At KONGES SLØJD, our advent gifts for children are chosen to be small enough for a calendar pocket or a little box, but still worth opening. Nothing here is filler just for the sake of filling 24 days.
Advent gifts for children, one day at a time
The idea behind an advent calendar is simple: one small gift, once a day, for the whole of December. That means each gift needs to be modest in size but still feel like something — a little toy, a small book, a pair of socks, a hair clip.
Spread across 24 days, even small things add up to a proper sense of anticipation. It's less about the size of any single gift and more about the daily habit it creates.
Advent gifts for children by age
What works well in an advent calendar changes with age, just as it does for any other gift.
Advent gifts for babies and toddlers
For the youngest children, soft toys, teething rings and small books tend to work best. Several pieces in this part of the range are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, so they've been tested for harmful substances — worth knowing for anything that's likely to end up in a baby's mouth.
Advent gifts for older children
Older children can handle a bit more variety — small puzzles, hair accessories, little figures or a few sweets alongside the non-edible gifts. The goal is still the same: small, easy to wrap, and genuinely nice to find.
Filling your own advent calendar
Many parents prefer to fill a reusable advent calendar themselves, choosing each of the 24 gifts individually rather than relying on a pre-packed box. This collection is built with exactly that in mind — a wide enough range that you can pick 24 small things without repeating yourself.
It also makes it easy to tailor the month to a particular child, mixing practical items like mittens or socks with purely playful ones like a small toy or a trinket.
Advent gifts that don't feel like clutter
Small gifts can still be well made. The pieces in this collection are chosen the same way as the rest of our range — nothing thrown in just to fill a number. A pair of socks or a little wooden toy is still something a child will use, not just unwrap and forget.
Choosing advent gifts for children online
When shopping for a whole month of gifts, it helps to plan loosely by category first — a few toys, a few clothing items, a few small extras — rather than choosing all 24 at random. That way the calendar feels varied from one week to the next.
It's also worth checking size and age guidance for clothing items, since advent gifts often include smaller versions of everyday pieces like socks, hats or mittens.
Pairing advent gifts with the main present
Advent gifts work well alongside a bigger Christmas present, building up to it rather than competing with it. Our stocking fillers share a similar size and spirit, so the two collections mix easily if you're shopping for both at once.
Twenty-four days is a long stretch to fill well. Browse the collection and put together an advent calendar your child will genuinely enjoy opening, one small day at a time.
